Privacy Policy for Personal Ledger
Effective date: 29 July 2026
Last updated: 18 August 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how MosTech Zone ("MosTech Zone," "we," "us," or "our") handles information when you use the Personal Ledger Android application (the "App"). Personal Ledger is a personal record-keeping tool. It is not a bank, payment service, lender, financial adviser, or investment service, and it does not connect directly to your bank accounts.
By using the App, you acknowledge the practices described in this Privacy Policy. Please see Terms & Conditions. If you do not agree, please do not use the App.
1. Information handled by the App
1.1 Information you enter or select
The App may process information that you choose to enter or attach, including:
- financial records such as income, expenses, balances, transfers, assets, liabilities, loans, investments, fund-ledger collections, fund expenses, budgets, recurring transactions, dates, categories, account labels, descriptions, notes, and related amounts;
- names or labels you enter for contributors, beneficiaries, borrowers, lenders, businesses, accounts, categories, funds, or other records;
- receipt images or PDF documents that you select using Android's system file picker;
- optional business-branding information, such as a business name and a selected logo used in reports; and
- preferences such as currency, report options, theme, reminder settings, notification settings, and biometric-lock settings.
1.2 Google account information for optional Drive backup
If you choose Google Drive backup, the App accesses your selected Google account's email address for authentication and stores that
email address in the App's local preferences. The App requests the Google Drive
drive.appdata scope, which permits the App to create, view, download, and delete only its own files in your Google Drive
application-data folder. It does not request general access to your personal Drive documents.
1.3 Information collected automatically by service providers
The App includes Google SDKs that may automatically collect the information below from the device and transmit or share it with Google for the stated purposes:
| Service | Information | Purpose |
|---|---|---|
| Google Mobile Ads / AdMob | IP address (which may indicate approximate location), advertising or app identifiers, device/account identifiers, app interactions such as launches, taps and ad/video views, and diagnostic information | Displaying and measuring ads, analytics, personalization where permitted, and fraud/abuse prevention |
| Firebase Analytics | App interactions, app-instance/device identifiers, device and app information, and limited developer-defined events indicating that a feature was used. Financial amounts, currency selections, account/category names, descriptions, notes, split details, and receipts are not intentionally included in developer-defined analytics events. | Understanding feature use and improving the App |
| Firebase Crashlytics | Crash stack traces, relevant application state, device metadata, installation identifiers, and analytics breadcrumb events preceding a crash | Diagnosing crashes and improving stability |
| Firebase Performance Monitoring | App-start and performance measurements, network-performance information, device/app metadata, and installation identifiers | Monitoring and improving reliability and performance |
| Firebase Remote Config and In-App Messaging | App-instance identifiers, device/app information, configuration-fetch information, and interaction information | Delivering configuration, feature messaging, and relevant in-app notices |
| Firebase Cloud Messaging | A messaging registration token and device/app information when notifications are enabled | Delivering optional notifications |
| Google Play Billing | Product, purchase and subscription status, transaction identifiers, and related diagnostic information. Payment-card details are processed by Google Play and are not received by us. | Processing purchases, subscriptions, entitlement checks, and restoring purchases |
1.4 Contact and privacy inquiries
If you contact MosTech Zone through our website contact form, we may receive your name, email address, selected subject, message, and any other information you choose to provide. We use this information to respond to inquiries, handle privacy requests, provide support, and prevent misuse of the contact service.
The contact form is operated using Web3Forms. Information submitted through the form is transmitted to Web3Forms for processing and delivery to MosTech Zone. Web3Forms handles this information according to its own privacy practices. Please do not submit passwords, payment-card details, complete backup files, or unnecessary financial information through the contact form.
2. Local storage, backups, reports, and sharing
2.1 Local storage
Your detailed ledger database, receipt attachments, branding files, and preferences are primarily stored in the App's private storage on your device. Android's ordinary automatic cloud backup and device-transfer backup are excluded for these App files. Other apps cannot ordinarily access this private storage unless the device's security has been compromised.
2.2 Optional backups
When you explicitly create, upload, or schedule a Google Drive backup, the App packages the ledger database and stored receipt files into a Personal Ledger backup archive and transfers it to the App's private Google Drive application-data folder. Google processes and stores that backup under your Google account and Google's terms and privacy practices. You control whether to enable this feature.
2.3 Reports, exports, and user-directed sharing
The App can create PDF or CSV reports and local backup files. These files may contain financial records, names or labels, notes, business-branding information, and other information you choose to include. They remain under your control unless you select another app, person, cloud location, or service to receive them. When you initiate sharing, the recipient or destination handles the file under its own privacy practices. Review every report or backup before sharing it.
3. How we use information
Information is used to:
- provide ledger calculations, histories, reports, reminders, backups, restore functions, and other requested App features;
- authenticate and perform optional Google Drive backup operations;
- process premium purchases and restore entitlements;
- display, measure, and protect advertising, subject to applicable consent and privacy choices;
- deliver optional notifications and in-app notices;
- analyze feature usage, diagnose crashes, monitor performance, prevent fraud and abuse, and improve the App; and
- comply with legal obligations and enforce applicable terms.
4. Parties that process information
We do not sell personal or sensitive user data, including financial records, receipt files, account information, device identifiers, or contact inquiries. Information may be processed by:
- Google LLC, through Google Play services and Billing, Google Mobile Ads, Firebase services, Google Sign-In, and Google Drive;
- Web3Forms, which processes and forwards information that you voluntarily submit through the MosTech Zone website contact form;
- User-selected sharing destinations, an app, person, or service that you expressly select when exporting or sharing a report, receipt, or backup; and
- Authorities where legally necessary, authorities or other parties where disclosure is reasonably necessary to comply with law, protect rights and safety, investigate fraud or abuse, or respond to a valid legal process.
Google's handling of information is described in the Google Privacy Policy, Firebase Privacy and Security information, and the Google Mobile Ads data-disclosure guide.
5. Advertising and privacy choices
The free version may display banner, native, interstitial, or rewarded ads supplied by Google Mobile Ads. Depending on your region, device settings, consent choices, and Google's eligibility rules, ads may be personalized or non-personalized. Where required, the App uses Google's User Messaging Platform to request advertising consent and provide privacy options. You may revisit available advertising privacy choices from the App's settings. You can also reset or delete your Android advertising ID through Android settings. Withdrawing consent does not affect processing that occurred before withdrawal.
6. Notifications and reminders
The App may request notification permission. Recurring-transaction reminders can be scheduled and processed on your device. If you enable remote notifications, Firebase Cloud Messaging is initialized and processes a registration token to deliver messages. You can disable notifications in the App or Android settings. The App intentionally does not upload or log the messaging token to a separate MosTech Zone server.
7. Biometric authentication
If you enable biometric or device-credential protection, authentication is performed by Android and the device's secure authentication system. The App receives only the result of the authentication attempt; it does not receive, store, or transmit your fingerprint, face template, PIN, pattern, or password.
8. Legal bases where applicable
Where laws such as the GDPR or UK GDPR apply, processing may rely on: performance of the service you request; your consent, including relevant advertising choices and optional features; our legitimate interests in security, fraud prevention, diagnostics, service improvement, and operating the App; and compliance with legal obligations. You may withdraw consent where processing is based on consent.
9. Retention and deletion
- On-device data: retained until you edit or delete a record, remove an attachment, use Full System Reset, clear the App's storage, or uninstall the App. Full System Reset is designed to erase the local ledger database, preferences, and stored receipt files.
- Google Drive backups: retained in your Google Drive app-data folder until you delete them through the App or your Google account/Drive controls, subject to Google's retention practices.
- Reports and exports: retained wherever you save or share them until you or the recipient deletes them.
- Analytics, advertising, crash, performance, messaging, and billing data: retained by Google according to the settings and retention periods governing the relevant Google service.
- Contact and privacy inquiries: retained only for as long as reasonably necessary to respond, provide support, maintain appropriate business records, prevent misuse, and comply with applicable legal obligations.
Personal Ledger does not create a separate MosTech Zone user account. Signing in to Google Drive connects your existing Google account only for the optional backup feature; it does not create an App account. You may disconnect the account and delete cloud backups from the App's settings. For privacy questions or deletion requests concerning information controlled by MosTech Zone, use the contact method in Section 15. Requests concerning data controlled directly by Google should also be made through your Google account privacy controls.
10. Security
We use reasonable safeguards appropriate to the App, including Android private app storage, restricted file sharing through Android's FileProvider, optional biometric/device-credential protection, exclusion of financial files from Android automatic backup, and encrypted network transport used by Google services. However, no device, transmission, backup, or storage system is completely secure. You are responsible for securing your device, Google account, exported files, and recipients. Avoid sharing unprotected reports or backups containing sensitive information.
11. Your choices and rights
Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict, or object to processing; withdraw consent; or receive information about processing. Most detailed ledger information remains only on your device or in a backup destination you select, so the most direct controls are the App's edit/delete functions, receipt controls, cloud-backup deletion, and Full System Reset. You may also:
- decline Google Drive backup;
- disable notifications;
- change available advertising privacy choices;
- reset or delete the Android advertising ID;
- remove receipt attachments and generated reports;
- cancel subscriptions through Google Play; and
- contact us using Section 15.
12. International processing
Google and other destinations you select may process information in countries other than your own. Those countries may have different data-protection laws. Such processing is governed by the relevant provider's terms, privacy policy, and applicable transfer safeguards.
13. Children
Personal Ledger is a general personal-finance record-keeping tool and is not directed to children under 13 or the minimum age required to consent to data processing in their country. We do not knowingly seek personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided information through the App inappropriately, contact us so that appropriate action can be taken. The App should not be installed or used by a child without any consent or supervision required by applicable law.
14. Changes to this Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy when the App, service providers, legal requirements, or data practices change. We will update the "Last updated" date and, where required, provide additional notice in the App or through the store listing. Please review the policy periodically.
